Community tourism at the Rwenzori gateway just got enriched with more three beds per night. The beds are provided by a local family that has opened their home to sleeping visitors. It is called Rwenzori home-stay and can be booked through Uganda Community tourism association at www.ucota.or.ug or contacted directly. The home-stay has a Facebook @rwenzorihomestay and more information can be found there.

Just like the other accommodations, Rwenzori home-stay is a suitable base for exploring the Rwenzori Mountains both through the community guided trails on the lower slopes or trekking the high mountains. The community trails are being run by Ruboni community camp, a different community tourism at the gateway. It is located at the base camp where recruitment of porters and guides is done. To the visitors, this home-stay offers private furnished bedrooms, bed and breakfast, shared living room, access to the kitchen if visitors want to make their own meals, secure packing garage, Wi-Fi connection*, ample playing space and information about Rwenzori trekking. The visitors can share the rest of the meals with the family. The family also has a small secure leveled ground that can be used for large or small group camping.

For visitors who want to experience the local life, the family accepts them to join their daily chores on the farm and at home. Hope you will try the homestay out. We can provide more information on request. Just contact us now or whenever you want to travel that direction.
