Uganda Wildlife, Mountains and Gorilla Safari (14 days)

From Murchison falls with the lowest point in Uganda, through the Rwenzori mountains with the highest point on margarita peak to the mountain gorillas we bring you to Lake Bunyonyi for a relaxing moment in one of Ugandas most scenic and diverse lake ecosystem surrounded by culture.

This trip package gives the most rewarding experience of Uganda, cutting across Ugandas cultures, landscapes and wildlife habitats. The trip starts in Entebbe taking guests through Kampala to three National Parks over 13 days.

The parks visited on this trip include Murchison falls National Park to experience the wonders of the Nile river falls and rapids, Rwenzori Mountains National park to climb the highest peak in Uganda, with permanent snow at the equator, and Bwindi gorilla National park to see the Mountain gorillas in their natural habitat.

Based on your plan, you may want to take part of the trip. Please choose your preference here; Rwenzori trekking (7 days) or Gorilla tracking (3 days) or Murchison falls safari experience (3 days).

  • Day 1.

    On arrival at Entebbe Airport Kampala, we will pick you and transfer to the hotel in Kampala on bed and breakfast.
  • Day 2.

    After breakfast, you aboard the vehicle and drive to Murchison Fall national park via Ziwa Rhino sanctuary to see them and then proceed to Murchison Fall arriving in the evening for game drive and overnight in Sambiya River Lodge or similar on dinner and breakfast.
  • Day 3.

    Full day with morning game drive and boat cruise in the afternoon around River Nile to the waterfall and game viewing. Lunch, dinner and overnight in the Sambiya River Lodge.
  • Day 4.

    After breakfast, you will have game viewing on the way to Kasese town at the foot of the mountain via fort portal, for overnight and prepare for the trek. Dinner and breakfast at Sandton hotel.
  • Day 5.

    Trekking starts from Omukorukumi Base camp at 1539m. Treking will mainly be in the grasspland zone, through the mountain villages. Common sight will include  local way of life, farming, education cetres, markets, homesteads, farms, local architecture on the gentle hills and valleys offering one of the best landscape views. Later in the day, enter the forest canopy and arrive to to Kasanzi camp (2411m.) for our night stay.
  • Day 6.

    After breakfast, start trekking from Kasanzi camp to Kambeho Camp 3286m. The trek is mainly through afro-montane forest, the Bamboo zone and ending in the heather vegetation zone. Trek for 5km and have aan access to phone network connection at Rwabitakuli ridge with relaxing views, then head a breaking point at Rwigho camp (3048m) before you can proceed for the next 5km to the destination. Common site during the trek are the panoramic views of the crater lakes area, forest canopy, rivers and bogs with chances of spotting birds, primates and chimps in specific.  Arrive later in the afternoon to pict your camp at Kambeho (3286m)
  • Day 7.

    After breakfast, start the trek to Lame Camp. The trek is mainly through the heather zone mixed with bamboo and forest patches. Common site on the trail are the beautiful flowers, unique vegetation such as the lobelia, and insects. Later after passing lake mughuli, arrive at lame Camp (3536m) located in the heather forest close to Lame River on the boarder of Uganda and Congo.
  • Day 8.

    After an early breakfast, start the trek to Bigo camp (3442m) the trek is entirely in heather vegetation zone. Common site are the alpine vegetation fields, extended views, sunbird sound as they parched on the tall standing lobelia, and some red rivers.  With The trail goes south along the Uganda Congo boarder offering scenic views over the beautiful ridges, wetlands and tussocks fields. Take the beautiful views over Bukurungu Lake and the beautiful mountains in Congo. You then slope to Bigo to set camp before dinner and overnight.
  • Day 9.

    Today after breakfast, we enter the alpine zone and trek all the way up to the camp n the north-eastern flank of Mt. Stanley, Irene Lakes (4495 m). Lunch in Irene Lakes Camp as we set up for the ascend to Margarita peak tomorrow.
  • Day 10.

    Set off early morning before sunrise From Irene Lake (4495 m) to Margarita (5,109 m). after a successful ascend, and if the weather is clear, you will spend some time taking the views, picture moments on the roof of Uganda before you return to Bigo camp (3525m) for dinner and overnight.
  • Day 11.

    After an early breakfast trek From Bigo Camp (3525m) to the base camp via Nyabithaba Camp (2632 m). Descend through the heather zone as you take views of the Mountains Ranges. have lunch at Omukomujungu and continue to Nyabitaba and the base camp for a relaxing moment at the community camp before transferring to Kasese town.
  • Day 12.

    After breakfast, the driver will pick guests and drive to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. the destination will depend on the Gorilla group that has been allocated on the ticket. The drive will be though Ishasha to the preferred destination near Bwindi national park.
  • Day 13.

    After an early breakfast, head to th gorilla briefing point at the park gate with your packed lunch and water. The rangers will brief all groups about the regulations for the Gorillas tracking and divided into 8 people each group. The gorilla will be tracked for a period between 1-8 hours. The search starts from where the gorillas were sighted yesterday. After tracking and spotting them, you are allowed to spend up to 1 hour with the Mountain Gorillas. After that you will trek back to the vehicle and drive to the hotel for a rest and later proceeds to Lake Bunyonyi for dinner and overnight. You will enjoy the late afternoon on a transfer boat ride around the lake to see the islands.
  • Day 14.

    After the breakfast, leave the lake and drive to Kampala arriving in time to wait for the departure or spend the night in a hotel. End of the trip.
