A trip to the Jolly Chimps and the big-5 in the jungle (5 days)

Overview

A journey to the wild looking for wildlife in the forest and savannah lying along the Nile River while visiting the world's most powerful waterfalls. At the top of the Murchison falls you will witness a crevasse of 7-meter gorge swallowing the entire river Nile. View the Nile from different angles to satisfy your appreciation for nature. The next day is reserved for a safari in which you will be on a game drive and a cruise on the river Nile. Spend a night with the community traditional huts at Boomu women's campsite as you participate in selected cultural activities or touring the village to share their way of life. You will also visit Kaniyo pabidi, home to chimpanzees and other primates, birds, butterflies, and rich plant life. Here you will participate in forest walks as you look for primates, mammals, and other wildlife common in this forest.

  • Day 1: Entebbe - Kampala

    You will be picked up from Entebbe airport by our driver. Enjoy the drive through the lakeshore town of Entebbe. Be welcomed by the sites of the arts, local life in the towns, the lake views, roadside market displays, and the Uganda traditional architectural designs. Enjoy the greenery landscape sparkling with happy faces of one of the most hospitable population in Africa. Dinner and overnight in Kampala Forest cottages.
  • Day 2: Kampala  – Budongo Forest

    Drive from Kampala and enter the park in the afternoon spend a night at Budongo eco-lodge. You will be welcomed in a natural forest with the perfect rainforest habitat that is home to birds, primates, and other mammals. Enjoy the bird and other nature sounds endless as you wait for dinner. Today options include jointing the evening forest walks, birding walks, or self-exploration around the lodge.
  • Day 3: Budongo Murchison

    This morning, we will take breakfast then proceed to the chimp tracking experience in Budongo forest. After chimp tracking, proceed to Murchison falls and drive straight to the top of the falls to spend time taking views of the falls at different angles as the world’s longest river thump into the 7 meter curve and dropping for 43 meters deep on its way to Lake Albert. Dinner and overnight at Red chili camp.
  • Day 4: Explore Murchison falls

    : Cross with the morning Ferry to reach out to the Nile delta, a point to celebrate nature as you look for a rich assortment of wildlife includes; cats, buffalos, elephants, antelopes, warthogs, and giraffe as hey extend their head feeding above the acacia canopy. You will not miss the large variety of common and endemic bird species. With a ranger guide, you may opt to walk as you look for specific animal spoors. Mid-morning, return to lunch. Looking for more wildlife chances on your way back, you will have lunch and return to the ferry and join the afternoon boat cruise for the two hours journey on the Nile looking for water wildlife including birds, crocodiles, hippos, and sometimes other land wildlife lined on the edges of the Nile cooling off. After the boat cruise, head for dinner and overnight at Boomu Women's bandas.
  • Day 5: Boomu - Kampala

    Take breakfast and community exploration starts. We have the option of participating in one community activity. Options include a village walk, cooking tour, or crafts workshop. After the community experience of choice, head to Kampala with a possibility of passing via Ziwa rhino sanctuary. Arrive in Kampala late afternoon for dinner and overnight at Forest cottages.
