  • Day 1: Kampala-Mgahinga

    Early morning wake up to a long day's journey from Kampala. The end of the drive will be through the rugged hills of Kigezi to the base of the Mgahinga Mountains. You will be welcomed by the views of the terraces and views of the iconic trio volcanoes; Muhavura, Mgahingha, Sabinyo. Arrive at dinner and overnight in Kisoro travelers rest hotel.
  • Day 2: Golden monkey tracking

    Today we will do golden monkey tracking while we acclimatize for the volcanoes climbing tomorrow. Early breakfast and head to Mgahinga gate for a briefing by the rangers. You will go on a gentle captivating trail through a regenerated natural forest inside the park. The two hours walk will lead you to the bamboo forest that is home to the endangered golden monkeys. The encounter of the golden monkeys revitalizes the soul when you appreciate this rare beauty in the bamboo trees. You will spend up to one hour with a habituated family of golden monkeys as they feed and play. Besides, the views are rewarding. You may be able to view the Virunga ranges on clear days. Other wildlife that you may encounter on the trek includes; duiker, Buffalos, Elephant birds, and other common small mammals on the long list of 76 mammals found in this park. After a rewarding experience, return to the lodge at the Mgahinga community rest camp.
  • Day 3: Volcanoes climbing

    Early morning, with packed lunch and water, you will meet the rangers and porters to start a full day trekking experience. It may take you up to eight hours on this return trip. You can only trek one of the three volcanoes in one day. Depending on the choice of volcanoes, we will start the trek taking through steep ridges, swamps with papyrus, lobelia, and other high altitude vegetations. During the trek, you may also spot some golden monkeys and other wildlife. At the top of the volcano, you will be rewarded with great views over the region with the site of the Rwenzori Mountains, Bwindi forest, the Virunga ranges, and queen Elizabeth plains. After a well-earned rest, start to descend back to the base camp at Mgahinga community rest camp and transfer to Kisoro travelers rest hotel for dinner and overnight.
  • Day 4: Mgahinga-Kampala:

    After a night's rest, wake up to breakfast and transfer to Kampala via Kabale – Mbarara route. You will have stopovers at several places to make the necessary breaks with coffee, the beautiful views, and souvenirs. Optional breaks will be at the Great lakes museum, Igongo cultural museum, and at the Kayabwe equator. After the equator head to Kampala for a bed night in Forest cottages and end the trip.
