Our guest reviews

Great basic accommodation to share benefits with the community Host Jason was superb and a great cook too. Facilities are certainly simple here but when you see the effort many people go through so that you can have a hot shower -you are both humbled and inspired. Jason and the staff were really helpful at setting us up with other community benefitting activities.  The one we chose was particularly fascinating – a tour of the salt-producing lake at Katwe. It’s a very hard life for the people there. So for a clean basic and community benefitting base for the Park, you aren’t going to beat The Elephant Home.– Iain P

An amazing place! “It’s an amazing place and I advise everyone to stay there! First of all, I would like to mention a wonderful staff! Very helpful and super kind! All our activities were great! Super strongly recommend taking a community boat! You will see SOOO many elephants and hippos! Our lunches, breakfasts, and dinners were super delicious! Please try Matoka! You should understand that this is a community hotel, so all your money goes to villages, to families directly – it’s an amazing way to help African people!” – Artcage – Russia

Very happy to stay here “We were very happy to stay here. It is run by the local community and is only 1km from the entrance gate to Queen Elizabeth National Park. The food was absolutely delicious. We had lunch once we checked in and then a delicious 3-course meal for dinner. The staff was extremely polite and helpful. The accommodation was perfect. Just what we needed. The manager was also very helpful in advising us about boat trips and tour guides for the game drive e.t.c. in the park. Highly recommended. Much better value than the places inside the park and really ideal for our trip!” – Aoife – Ireland

During the days, meet the people, explore the wildlife on the famous Kasenyi tracks and the Kizinga channel as you look for the cats, hippos, buffalos, elephants, and many others. Birders will find a long list of birds to see, all day and all year round. Visit the Katwe salt pans to see how the locals mine salt most anciently with their hands, (to earn their daily living) to put food on their table. On our BodaBoda safari, you will view both the people’s cultures and wildlife being shown to you by the experienced local community guide.

If you’re looking for a longer day trekking, you will find the Village Hill trek appropriate. Enjoy the open views of the Queen Elizabeth savannah as our guide will take you on the several hours’ trek through via the rustic villages to the mountain lake.
