Overview: It is a trek in the pristine jungle of Rwenzori that brings you to the lower peaks. Starting at 1640 to 3781 meters, leading to Kameli peak. Besides the great scenery, you will enjoy the wildlife. Common wildlife on the trail include the Antelopes, a variety of monkeys and chimps, rock hyrax, elephants are among the 70 mammal species and Rwenzori turaco, Ruwenzori White-starred Bush Robin, Mountain Sooty Boubou, Red-throated Alethe and more are among the 217 bird species on the Rwenzori mountains. On a wilderness trail, you will go camping in the unspoiled jungle with the local community members of the Rwenzori indigenous tribe as they show you the Rwenzori Mountains. Price per person:

  • Day 1: Kilembe – Bughalitsa – Kinyamwirima camp (2738M)

    After an early breakfast at the lodge, you will be picked for a transfer to the base camp at Bughalitsa. You will then be oriented before you will start the 5-6 hours trek that goes through coffee gardens the woods and then through the bamboo forest inside the park. Catch the glimpse of the sunrise as you trek via the Babinga cultural site, heading to the park gate. The trail crosses river Rukoki. Common plants and trees include spear grass, elephant grass, and others giving an opportunity to learn how the plants relate to the locals. On a lucky day, guests can spot local wildlife such as the three-horned chameleons, Blue monkeys, birds, and different insects. On arrival, take a walk around the camp taking the views of the lower plains below the Rwenzori Mountains as you enjoy the fresh mountain habitat dominated by bamboo piper capense, pteridium aquilinum.  Activities at the camp include a campfire, storytelling, and dinner.
  • Day 2: Kinyamwirima camp – Kamipe camp (3362 M)

    Early morning after breakfast, trek through an assortment of Bamboo forests, mimulopsis olliottiis, mountain flowers, Erica spps vegetation.  You will be trekking for 6-7hrs with a lunch break at Kyoha river ( 3029m) after lunch, continue the trek to the camp to arrive at the beautiful hypercum bequaeritiis forest. During the stay at the camp, you will not miss the beautiful view of the waterfall at Nyamwamba River, Mitinda, outlook peak, and lowland areas of Kibale National Park lakes; Edward and George, Mount Muhavura. You can participate in evening nature walks to find Columbus monkey, duikers, Rwenzori turaco and then enjoy the storytelling on the campfire during the evening time
  • Day 3: Kamipe camp – Nyamiyaru camp (3468M)

    After an early breakfast, trek to Nyamiyaru camp. The trail takes through rich vegetation of Senecio trees, lobelias, rubus staubneriis, dondrisecio, beautiful flowers with opportunities of hearing or seeing rock hyrax, Columbus monkey, duikers, sun Birds, and other unique wildlife. The trek will take an estimate of 5-6 hours. On arrival, set the camp, and take nature walks, share some of the experiences or enjoy nature. From the camp, you have opportunities for generous views of rocks on Wiseman peak, the view of Lakes Edward and George, queen Elizabeth National park, parts of Mahoma Lake.
  • Day 4: Nyamiyaru camp – Kameli camp (3781m)

    Early morning trek for 3-4 hours to Kameli camp common wildlife includes Duikers and the colorful sunbirds, Senecio Trees, and other short high altitude shrubs. The camp is located in a Senecio Trees forest with great views of mountain rocks that give a relaxing moment. From the camp, you can choose to participate in short peak climbing, storytelling, short nature walks, campfire, or relaxing in the beautiful natural setting.
  • Day 5: Kameli camp – Kameli peak – Nyamiyaru camp (3468M)

    Today morning head to climb Kameli peak. On return from the peak, descend to Nyamiyaro camp for overnight. The common vegetation on the trail is Senecio Trees. We will be trekking for an estimate of 2-3 hours. From the camp take the generous views of guy yeoman and Mount Baker. View of Mubuku river and bujuko valley giving great photo moments. After quality time on the peak, return to proceed to Nyamiyaru camp, arriving in the afternoon.
  • Day 6: Nyamiyaru camp (3468M) – Nyabyayi valley camp

    This morning, take an early breakfast and trek for 6-7 hours descending past Nyabyayi River to have lunch at Nyabyayi valley camp. We will spend the night in this beautiful valley camp as we enjoy the forest surrounding bamboo and rich natural forest vegetation. While at the camp, you may hear the beautiful sounds of chimps calling in the tropical forest or you may even spot some nests and black Columbus monkeys in the canopy during the evening nature walks.
  • Day 7: Nyabyayi valley camp – Bughalitsa community

    Early morning trek for 2-3 hours as we descend to the base camp at Bughalitsa Community office. This is a low altitude trek with woodlots and common vegetations including Cyattea manniis, preridium aquilimums, smilax asceps. During the trek, take the endless views of the queen Elizabeth savannah plains as you meet the rivers, birds, bees, and other components of the natural ecosystem. Be welcomed by the people, gardens, and homes in the villages at the base camp.
